Institute of Information Technology (ITEC)
The Institute of Information Technology (ITEC) is part of the Faculty of Technical Sciences of Klagenfurt University. ITEC is organized in two research groups: Distributed Multimedia Systems led by Prof. Böszörmenyi and Multimedia Communication led by Prof. Hellwagner. The Distributed Multimedia Systems group, which is the main driving force of the CODE-MM project, focuses on adaptability in distributed multimedia systems, adaptive and self-organizing video distribution in multimedia delivery networks, user context in multimedia delivery, semantic and network-level adaptation of delivery networks, video analysis, user-centric video retrieval, human centered computing in multimedia retrieval and consumption, and languages, compilers and frameworks for multimedia applications.
KARL STORZ GmbH & Co KG has been founded in 1945 and has been known for leading and creating inventions and developments since then. The company has done pioneering work in minimally invasive surgeries and was an early adopter of digital technologies. KARL STORZ has its own imaging and camera manufacturing departments and introduced the first full HD camera for use with an endoscopy system. KARL STORZ operates worldwide and runs production sites in Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Estonia and USA and has sales and marketing offices on all continents. To ensure and strengthen the position on the global market KARL STORZ maintains a holistic idea of endoscopy. They focus on 4 pillars being (i) optics, (ii) mechanics, (iii) electronics, and (iv) software to ensure endoscopy equipment matching with highest possible quality.
Lakeside Labs GmbH
Lakeside Labs is a cluster for science, technology, and innovation in the area of information and communication technology. We focus on the future-oriented topic of self-organizing networked systems. The company Lakeside Labs GmbH acts as the link between the University of Klagenfurt, other universities, research institutes, and industrial companies. It offers space for creative ideas, high-quality research on an international level, and industry-related application-oriented projects. Lakeside Labs was founded in 2008 and currently funds an international team of 35 scientists, project managers, and assistants.
